Global-XpressAndy Start, president for Inmarsat‘s global government business, has said the company expanded geographic coverage of its Ka-band broadband satellite network to address public sector clients’ communication demands, Satnews reported Monday.

Inmarsat now offers the Global Xpress satcom service to government customers throughout the Americas and Atlantic Ocean regions, the publication reports.

Start told the MilSatCom conference in London the company aims to help facilitate ground-, air- and sea-based communications through the platform.

Inmarsat launched a third satellite in the GX constellation in August and plans to debut the broadband network connectivity offering in the commercial market by the end of this year.

Three government customers use the Inmarsat’s satellite technology for mission-critical communications and another four are testing the service.

Global Xpress is also available across Europe, Africa the Middle East and Asia.
