PatriotMissileRaytheon has received an $86.2 million contract modification to update the Patriot integrated air and missile defense system designed for the U.S. Army.

Raytheon will produce kits to complete the upgrade process for the Army’s Patriot systems that began in 2013, the company said Monday.

The Patriot system is designed to detect and identify targets.

“When one country develops an upgrade or improvement to Patriot, that capability is made available to the entire 13-nation partnership,” said Ralph Acaba, Raytheon’s vice president of integrated air and missile defense.
