world blue mapDigitalGlobe has said it believes the U.S. government should develop innovation and budget management strategies to ensure continued partnership between commercial satellite services providers and their public-sector customers.

In a blog article published Tuesday, the company cited the U.S. National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency‘s EnhancedView program as one example of how industry can help address the earth imagery needs of defense and intelligence organizations.

The company provides satellite imagery under a potential 10-year EnhancedView service-level agreement with NGA in an effort to support government operational mission planning, emergency response and situational awareness management efforts.

The program works to help NGA save on satellite infrastructure costs and allows DigitalGlobe to manage delivery of products and services to the agency, the company noted.

DigitalGlobe added it believes the U.S. Air Force‘s plan to oursource operation of the Wideband Global Satcom network to industry could provide a pathfinder for companies to help manage other military communication satellites.
