technology, cyber, cloud, computerThe U.S. Army plans to launch a third iteration of its Cyber Innovation Challenge to identify micro-cloud management technology that can support the military branch’s cyber threat defense missions.

The competition will be open to commercial and academic organizations and calls for the development of software-based prototypes that will work to manage disparate cloud computing architectures for the Army’s Defensive Cyberspace Operations Infrastructure, according to a FedBizOpps notice published Wednesday.

DCO-I comprises network interfaces, portable servers and other deployable platforms intended to help military personnel address cyber threats.

The Army will hold an industry event on March 31 at the Defense Innovation Unit Experimental headquarters in Mountain View, California, to discuss the framework and requirements of its upcoming Cyber Innovation Challenge.

The military service noted it will use an “other transaction authority” agreement for the micro-cloud management technology prototyping initiative.
