EarthBall Aerospace & Technologies has selected satellite component manufacturer Vanguard Space Technologies to produce structures for the NASA Landsat 9 project to collect baseline data for a map of Earth’s land cover.

Vanguard will make baseplate structural assemblies and mounting struts for the OLI-2 Instrument that consists of construction, attach points and metallic fits to mount the telescope and other electronic components on the spacecraft, the company said Tuesday.

Frank Belknap, Vanguard CEO, said his company will work to meet the instrument’s structural and geometric tolerance requirements and aim to make a compliant, dimensional stable structure.

He added that the company hopes to address the requirements of Ball Aerospace group and provide structures for the telescope and satellite products.

NASA will work to map land use and change on an annual basis over multi-decade periods of time through the Landsat program.
