ScanEagleBoeing’s Insitu subsidiary has established a business unit that will work to assist commercial clients in their data collection and processing efforts through unmanned aerial systems.

Insitu said Monday the new unit will offer several products and services including aerial vehicles, Inexa Control software designed to operate UAS and Catalina and TacitView software for multi-sensor data collection and distribution.

The business unit will also provide clients with payloads that can fly onboard manned and unmanned platforms for information collection efforts as well as services from its team of aviation and aerial data collection professionals.

Ryan Hartman, Insitu president and CEO, said Insitu will work to leverage its two decades’ experience in drones to help commercial clients perform their data processing and collection operations through the commercial business unit.

Insitu also reported Tuesday that it sold the first commercial version of the Inexa Control software tool to the University of Nevada in Reno.

The university’s college of engineering will use Insitu’s Inexa Control in simulation and practical exams of its students as part of the UAS flight coordinator course the university will offer in the fall of 2016.

The course will cover unmanned flight operations, Federal Aviation Administration regulations on drones, flight physics and aerodynamics of UAS.
