Lockheed Martin BlueThe U.S. Navy has awarded Lockheed Martin a $33 million cost-plus-incentive-fee contract modification to sustain test and development services for Japan’s Aegis modernization baseline computer programs and equipment.

The award exercises options on a previous contract to support the Japanese maritime self-defense force’s efforts to update Atago-class destroyers from Baseline 7 Phase 1R to Advanced Capability Build 12 with Technology Insertion 12 technology, the Defense Department said Friday.

The Naval Air Systems Command has obligated the full contract amount from its fiscal 2016 foreign military sales funding.

Lockheed will perform work in New Jersey, Washington and Tokyo, Japan, with an expected completion date of March 2017, DoD added.
