ParsonsThe Energy Department has verified that Parsons has completed construction of the Savannah River Site’s Salt Waste Processing Facility.

Parsons, the main contractor of the project, notified DOE on April 22 that it had met all contractual obligations for its work, SRS said Tuesday.

SRS added that the DOE verified and documented Parsons’ work for 30 days before the May 26 completion designation.

Sheppard, Parsons senior vice president and SWPF project manager, said that the project aims to facilitate tank waste cleanup in the SRS.

DOE and Parsons will conduct system tests and workforce training in preparation for the SWPF’s full operation scheduled for 2018.

The end of construction was noted as eight months ahead of schedule in the SRS release.
