ITIntel, Samsung have launched an interactive dialogue that seeks to convene technology industry stakeholders to develop Internet of Things policy recommendations for U.S. lawmakers.

Samsung said Wednesday the National IoT Strategy Dialogue was created in response to technology leaders’ call for a forum that can help industry and Congress to realize the potential advantages of IoT technology for the economy and society.

The Information Technology Industry Council will manage the program.

“We look forward to working with Intel, ITI and other stakeholders in Washington to find the collaborative path forward in bringing the transformative benefits and solutions of IoT to scale,” said Oh-Hyun Kwon, vice chairman and CEO of Samsung’s electronics business.

“The National IoT Strategy Dialogue is consistent with the goals of the pending [Developing Innovation and Growing the Internet of Things Act] and as a co-founder Intel is pleased to help drive this important technology transformation in the U.S.,” said Doug Davis, senior vice president of IoT at Intel.

The DIGIT Act would establish a federal working group to recommend strategies on how Congress can encourage the adoption of connected systems.

Intel and Samsung also seek to drive IoT infrastructure investments and public-private partnerships as well as promote interoperability, security and consensus-based standards through the dialogue.
