TetraTechLogoTetra Tech has received a $13 million contract from the U.S. Agency for International Development and NASA to help western African nations address climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions with the use of satellite imagery.

The company said Monday it will help promote the use of geospatial technology to the Agrometeorology, Hydrology and Meteorology Regional Center of the Permanent Inter-State Committee for Drought Control in the Sahel through the Global SERVIR program.

The goal is to help inform policies related to food security and agriculture; water and disasters; weather and climate; and land use, coastal zones and forest management.

Dan Batrack, Tetra Tech’s chairman and CEO, said the company will support USAID and NASA to provide the technology required to address the impacts of climate change around the world.

USAID and NASA launched the SERVIR-West Africa initiative last week.
