Decision SciencesDecision Sciences International Corp. has received a $5.26 million contract from the Defense Department‘s Combating Terrorism Technical Support Office to provide and deploy a system built to detect contraband and weapons..

The company said Tuesday the Multi-Mode Passive Detection System Gen 3 platform works to automatically scan vehicles, cargo containers and other vehicles to identify and discover shielded and unshielded nuclear and radiological threats, explosives, narcotics, cigarettes and other contrabands through the use of cosmic ray tomography.

Dwight Johnson, Decision Sciences president and CEO, said the company also intends to offer MMPDS GEN3 to the U.S.’ international allies.

MMPDS GEN 3 is designed to integrate machine learning algorithms and help users update the system library to adapt to changes in types of threats and contraband.
