Orbital ATKOrbital ATK will supply medium-range ballistic missile target rockets to the Missile Defense Agency under a potential four-year, $182 million contract awarded in July.

The company will provide the rockets to support tests of missile defense platforms under the MDA contract that covers the production of the third type of configuration for the agency’s medium-range ballistic missile target system, Orbital ATK said Monday.

The Medium-Range Ballistic Missile Type 3 Configuration 2 contract could reach $400 million in total value once MDA exercises all options for follow-on vehicle development and production through 2024.

Orbital ATK manufactures its missile defense interceptors and target vehicles at its Chandler, Arizona-based facility.

The company also produces other target systems to support MDA programs such as the Patriot Target Vehicle, Intercontinental Ballistic Missile target and the Air-Launched Intermediate-Range Ballistic Missile target system.
