clean energyA subsidiary of United Technologies Corp.‘s NORESCO unit has received a $49 million energy savings performance contract to deliver energy, water efficiency and capital infrastructure updates at two sites managed by the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

NORESCO said Tuesday it will support the agency’s goals to meet energy and water reduction mandates under a March 2015 executive order on federal sustainability.

The subsidiary will install new technologies and infrastructure updates at prisons in Fort Dix, New Jersey and Philadelphia that encompass centralized commercial laundry and domestic water operations, centrally-monitored building-level electric and water metering systems, energy management systems and solar photovoltaic systems.

Other updates will include LED lighting replacements; heating, ventilation and air conditioning controls; porcelain restroom equipment; and fixture updates with stainless steel units to support maintenance workload and facility conditions.

Facility updates will be funded through guaranteed energy savings with no capital investment from the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
