cybersecurityU.K.-based technical information security accreditation and certification body Crest will assume responsibility for the operation of the National Security Agency‘s Cyber Incident Response Assistance accreditation program under a memorandum of understanding with NSA.

Crest said Tuesday it will collaborate with NSA’s Information Assurance Directorate to expand the CIRA program and maintain the integrity of the strict accreditation process.

“The Crest relationship with the NSA will support the maturity of incident response services into other government and commercial departments outside of [National Security Systems],” said Rowland Johnson, director of Crest’s international unit.

“The MOU demonstrates the increasing collaborative relationship between industry and government globally to support and develop the cyber security ecosystem,” Johnson added.

Crest also established offices in New York and enlisted Gotham Digital Science, MWR InfoSecurity, Nettitude, Stroz Friedberg and Trustwave as initial members of Crest’s newly formed U.S. chapter.
