PatriotMissileThe Netherlands’ defense materiel organization has awarded Raytheon a direct commercial sales contract of undisclosed value to provide a new operator-machine interface upgrade for the country’s integrated air and missile defense system.

Raytheon said Thursday it will update the Netherlands’ Patriot IAMD system through the company-built Modern Man Station user interface that works to identify and display airborne objects, track potential threats and mitigate hostile targets.

“The Netherlands will continuously modernize Patriot as they intend to keep it in their inventory until at least 2040,” said Ralph Acaba, Raytheon IAMD vice president.

The Netherlands decided to maintain its Patriot investments in 2015 and the country deployed two Patriot batteries in Turkey until 2014 to help defend the latter country from ballistic missiles.
