uss-maineThe U.S. Navy has awarded International Marine and Industrial Applicators a one-year, $21.5 million firm-fixed-price contract to support the preservation and non-submarine safety structural repairs and sustainment efforts for the USS Maine ballistic missile submarine.

IMIA will provide preservation, hull and structural repair, anode removal, repair and replacement, lead bin repair and fabrication, de-ballasting and re-ballasting and safety track repair services under the contract, the Defense Department said Friday.

The company will perform work in Bremerton, Washington through December 2017.

DoD noted that contract funds will come from the Navy’s fiscal 2017 operations and maintenance funds.

The Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility received two bids for the contract through the Federal Business Opportunities website.

IMIA provides surface preparation services, including steel grit, dry abrasive and water blasting, high-volume, low-pressure guns and spray-painting, specialty coatings and linings, abatement and containment and high-pressure water washing services to the marine sector.
