data-ServersDiffeo has received the top prize in the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency‘s challenge that required access to disparate data sets with the use of machine intelligence algorithms.

Diffeo integrated its research and analysis process with machine intelligence algorithms into the system to create a knowledge graph of people, places, organizations and events and their inter-relationships under the Disparate Data Challenge, the company said Thursday.

The technology operates on the public Web and in private clouds to help analysts discover new information through the use of data recommendations that plug knowledge gaps in the user’s in-progress document.

“The challenge provided an interesting set of data sources and formats, enabling us to show off the power of our approach,” said Aaron Taylor, director of cloud services at Diffeo.

NGA assessed entries based on desirability, expected global utility, technical effectiveness and viability factors.

The competition is part of NGA’s efforts to use open innovation and crowdsourcing to develop new acquisition approaches.

Diffeo was one of 15 participants to join the second phase of the competition that required methods to locate, retrieve and analyze data.
