Earl Matthews, a vice president at Hewlett Packard Enterprise, has said speed, analytics, integration, resiliency, intelligence and expertise are the six attributes that are key to cyber situational awareness, Signal magazine reported Wednesday.

Matthews, VP of enterprise security solutions for HPE’s U.S. public sector business, made the remarks Wednesday at the three-day MILCOM 2016 conference hosted by AFCEA International and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in Maryland, Sandra Jontz writes.

“Breaches are inevitable, cyber situational assessments have to be ongoing, automation is going to be key and you have to have analytics to reduce the time to mitigate the damage,” Matthews said.

He told conference attendees that the U.S. military needs to leverage emerging platforms to achieve technological superiority in the electromagnetic spectrum domain, according to Jontz’s blog post.

Matthews noted that future technology platforms with higher data processing capabilities need to operate in cyber space where “physical maneuver exists.”

“These systems are going to have to be prepared to change frequency dependencies… because this is the place they are going to operate in the electromagnetic spectrum,” he added, according to the report.
