2016lockheedmartinlogoLockheed Martin personnel have visited Cheyenne in Wyoming to assess available resources in the area as the company chases an estimated $60 billion missile system renovation project with the U.S. Air Force, Wyoming Tribune Eagle reported Tuesday.

Matt Murphy writes the project will cover updates to launch facilities and missile silos at F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, Malmstrom AFB in Montana and Minot AFB in North Dakota, as well as the replacement of the Minuteman III missiles.

The Lockheed representatives met with local business leaders and the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce during the visit, the report said.

Boeing and Northrop Grumman have also submitted bids for the intercontinental ballistic missile system update project following the Air Force’s request for proposals in late July.
