BAE Unveils Cockpit Devt & Military Aircraft Training Facility - top government contractors - best government contracting eventBAE Systems has opened a new cockpit development and training facility designed to integrate gaming technologies with military aircraft simulators and Formula One engineering.

The company said Thursday it worked with Williams Advanced Engineering to build the $2.9 million Training and Simulation Integration Facility at Warton village in Lancashire, England.

TSIF is designed to provide simulation support for various aircraft types such as BAE’ Hawk and Typhoon platforms.

The facility also features a training cockpit that applies F1 technologies and engineering; an augmented reality environment; wall-to-wall interactive displays of the body of an aircraft; and a networked synthetic environment designed to support joint training of pilots and engineers, BAE noted.

BAE plans to invest more than $12.7 million in training and simulation facilities at the company’s Warton site as well as open a Mission Systems Integration Facility later this year to support future concept aircraft testing and evaluation.
