DigitalGlobe Backs PSMA Australia Digital Mapping Program With WorldView-4 Satellite Imagery - top government contractors - best government contracting eventDigitalGlobe has handed over to PSMA Australia WorldView-4 satellite-based high-resolution imagery in support of the latter’s digital mapping initiative for the Australian continent.

PSMA Australia will use DigitalGlobe’s satellite imagery for the Geoscape program that seeks to create a digital representation of the built environment for approximately 20 million buildings across Australia that include building footprints, solar panels and rooftop materials, DigitalGlobe said Tuesday.

PSMA Australia is a public company that supports government services and commercial business platforms by offering authoritative national geospatial datasets.

“Having access to precise information about the built environment is critical for a number of industries in Australia including insurance, urban planning, emergency management and business intelligence,” said Dan Paull, CEO of PSMA Australia.

Paull added that WorldView-4 will help PSMA Australia meet its clients’ requirements through the annual refresh of Geoscape-related data that covers building heights, land cover and elevation.

DigitalGlobe started to provide its first customer direct access to the WorldView-4 satellite imagery in February and is scheduled to make imagery data available to all commercial clients by Aug. 31, Thursday.
