BAE Offers Over 1,000 Graduate, Apprenticeship Posts in Australia for SEA 5000 Program - top government contractors - best government contracting eventBAE Systems has unveiled a new strategy that will open recruitment to more than 1,000 graduates and apprentices in Australia as the company pursues a contract under the SEA 5000 Future Frigate program.

The Early Careers Program will serve to help BAE establish a pipeline of talent who will support potential work related to SEA 5000 and build on Australia’s shipbuilding industry, the company announced Wednesday.

“If BAE Systems is down-selected for SEA 5000, by the end of the construction phase — circa 2038 — we estimate that 75 percent of our workforce, including senior executives, will have started as graduates or apprentices, making a job on SEA 5000 potentially a job for life,” said Glynn Phillips, chief executive at BAE Systems Australia.

The 35-year program includes opportunities for business and engineering graduate participants to work globally and covers apprenticeships in steelwork as well as mechanical, electrical and technical trades, BAE added.

The company submitted a proposal to the Australian government in August for the manufacture of nine anti-submarine warfare ships based on the Global Combat Ship-Australia design.
