Fleet Readiness Center Southeast Inaugurates F-35 Targeting System Repair Facility - top government contractors - best government contracting event

Lockheed Martin and the U.S. Navy have opened a repair facility for the F-35 fighter aircraft’s electro-optical targeting system at the service branch’s Fleet Readiness Center Southeast in Jacksonville, Florida.

The opening of F-35 EOTS depot culminates a seven-year collaboration of the Navy and Lockheed, FRCSE said Aug. 30.

EOTS is designed to help fighter pilots conduct air-to-ground and air-to-air targeting functions.

“This is our inaugural EOTS depot, so we’re excited they’ll be able to handle these repairs instead of coming into our factory,” said Jane Algee, a program manager at Lockheed’s missiles and fire control business.

“We’ve been doing them in our own shop, and there’s a lot of congestion as the production is ramping up,” Algee added.

FRCSE will serve as Lockheed’s partner in efforts to conduct repairs on F-35 avionics.
