Northrop to Support DARPA's Graph Processor Tech Project - top government contractors - best government contracting eventNorthrop Grumman has been selected by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency to help develop a graph processor chip technology as part of DARPA’s Hierarchical Identify Verify Exploit program.

The company said Tuesday it will collaborate with five other parties in efforts to examine the performance of graph algorithms when incorporated into the HIVE chip.

HIVE seeks to implement a generic graph processor designed to analyze large data sets and identify correlations and dependencies.

“The goal of the HIVE program is to enable our customers to make better decisions with the copious amounts of data generated every day,” said Vern Boyle, vice president of cyber and advanced processing at Northrop’ mission systems sector.

Northrop believes the resulting technology could have applications in the cybersecurity, intelligence integration and network analysis areas.

The company noted it aims to produce static and streaming graph analytic tools to help address challenges related to anomaly detection, dependency mapping, domain specific search, causal modeling of events and N-x contingency analysis.
