IBM Tops List of Australian Govt IT Contractors - top government contractors - best government contracting eventA new report from Australia’s national audit office says IBM received the highest number of information technology contracts from the Australian government during the 2012 to 2013 through 2016 to 2017 period, ZDNet reported Thursday.

Australia spent $27 billion on IT contracts over the five-year period, including $1.8 billion for 692 government contracts that went to IBM, the report said.

Boeing secured $1.2 billion worth of IT-related contracts from Australia, while Lockheed Martin entered 260 government contracts valued at $1.1 billion in total.

Other top earners include Fujitsu, with 1,092 IT contracts worth $722.7 million; Abacus Innovations with $672.2 million for 133 IT contracts; Data#3 with 1,689 contracts valued at $663.8 million; and Telstra with $496 million worth of IT-related deals.

Australia’s government IT spending peaked in the 2014 to 2015 period at $5.3 billion and decreased in the 2016 to 2017 financial year to less than $4.5 billion, the national audit office reported.
