Drone Delivery Canada to Begin Raven X1400 Test - top government contractors - best government contracting eventDrone Delivery Canada has announced its plan to begin tests of a cargo delivery unmanned aerial system within the first quarter of 2018.

Raven X1400 is designed to fly approximately 37.3 miles and accommodate payloads of up to 25 pounds, DDC said Thursday.

The drone is also built with a capacity to withstand austere weather conditions observed in the northern side of Canada.

DDC has determined that the X1400’s capacities will be suitable for operation in about 1000 remote communities within Northern Canada, with consideration of payload and distance requirements.

The company developed its UAS platform to operate with the FLYTE management system that may be used for semi-autonomy flights.

DDC will conduct in-house tests at a laboratory in Vaughan, Canada, and intends to perform outdoor tests if the company passes its testing procedure and receives special flight operations certification from Transport Canada.
