Orbital ATK Gets Follow-On Rocket Flare Order From General Dynamics - top government contractors - best government contracting event

General Dynamics‘ ordnance and tactical systems business has awarded Orbital ATK  a follow-on contract to supply additional illuminating flares for Hydra-70 rockets that work to help warfighters defeat targets at an extended range.

Orbital ATK said Monday it will provide more than illuminating flares designed to provide light that can be sensed both visually and through infrared technology.

The order follows a contract Orbital ATK received in 2017 for initial production and article test services, the company noted.

Flares are designed to be fired from with the Apache and Cobra attack helicopters as well as the F-16 Fighting Falcon and combat aircraft platforms.

Hydra-70 rockets consist of singular and cargo explosives and work to engage both exact point and wide area targets.
