Kratos Wraps Up 1st Phase of USAF Enterprise Ground Services Study - top government contractors - best government contracting eventKratos Defense & Security Solutions has completed the initial phase of a study that seeks to demonstrate an approach to facilitate the transition of a command-and-control system for military communications satellites into the U.S. Air Force’s Enterprise Ground Services architecture.

The company said Thursday EGS supports the service branch’s Space Enterprise Vision that aims to build a space architecture designed to protect space assets from threats.

“One of the biggest drivers behind the development of EGS is an increasingly ominous space threat environment and the speed with which those threats occur,” said John Monahan, senior vice president of Kratos’ satcom products and federal solutions.

Monahan added the company has started the second phase of the EGS study.

The EGS initiative also seeks to advance the development of a ground architecture that will work to integrate the military branch’s Enterprise Space Battle Management Command and Control platform and provide space situational awareness capabilities.

Kratos launched in 2016 the first phase of the 27-month, four-phased EGS study as part of the sustainment and production contract for the Command and Control System-Consolidated platform for military satcom operations and expects the study to conclude in December.

The company used its web-based user interface platform, Webic, and EPOCH IPS server for telemetry and command operations in the EGS study.
