Deloitte: IT Modernization, AI Adoption Among Govt Tech Trends for 2018 - top government contractors - best government contracting eventA new Deloitte report has identified eight technology trends that could help government agencies develop and adopt an enterprise-centered approach to information technology.

Deloitte said Monday its annual report A Government Perspective: Tech Trends 2018 scored each trend based on its relevancy to agencies and the government’s readiness to implement such trends and found that “reengineering technology” was considered the most relevant to agencies.

Under this tech trend, agencies should modernize their IT infrastructure to change the way they deliver services as well as facilitate IT budgeting and organization processes to execute missions.

The analysis also evaluated the relevance and readiness of agencies to adopt the “no-collar workforce” trend that calls for the use of artificial intelligence, automation and cognitive tools to streamline operations.

Other trends discussed in the report include the capability of agencies to store and secure enterprise data; back-office modernization through machine intelligence platforms; use of virtual and augmented reality systems in collaboration and training; adoption of blockchain technologies; application programming interfaces; and quantum encryption and other exponential tech systems.

“The goal of the 2018 Government Tech Trends is to provide government leaders, across the enterprise, with a better understanding of these technological forces so they can develop strategies and collaborate to build a symphonic enterprise of their own,” said Sanjay Shah, principal at Deloitte Consulting and public sector technology leader.

“Symphonic enterprise” is a concept that seeks to facilitate coordination between technology, operations and strategy across various domains.
