Boeing, HAL, Mahindra team up on bid for India's fighter aircraft contract - top government contractors - best government contracting eventBoeing has partnered with India-based Mahindra Defence Systems and Hindustan Aeronautics to offer the country’s air force the F/A-18 Super Hornet platform, Flightglobal reported Friday.

The Chicago-based aerospace and defense company intends to propose a fighter aircraft production facility as part of its support to “Make in India” goals.

The Indian air force sent a request for information notice to six manufacturers worldwide last week and would require a winning team to build majority of aircraft units in the country.

Reuters reported Thursday that India aims to procure up to 110 combat jets potentially worth more than $15 billion.

A Lockheed MartinTata Advanced Systems alliance and a SaabAdani Group partnership intend to pursue the contract, the report noted.
