northrop-Grumman_BLUENorthrop Grumman and the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs have partnered to implement courses and internship activities focused on science, technology, engineering and math, The Colorado Springs Gazette reported Tuesday.

Debbie Kelley writes UCCS students will have access to research and development, scholarship programs, seminars and job fairs sponsored by Northrop.

The STEM program’s goal is “to push the envelope of space science and monitoring technology and to support the country’s defense,” said Russ Anarde, Northrop’s corporate lead executive for Colorado, according to the report.

Anarde added the company aims to engage college students and graduates in further developing technologies such as NASA‘s James Webb Space Telescope, Kelley writes.

The Falls Church, Va.-based defense and aerospace firm currently has 53 university partners.
