b-w world-peopleMichael Spierto, a former staffer at a House Homeland Security subcommittee, will officially join TechAmerica as director of cybersecurity policy on April 14, Government Technology reported Friday.

Brian Heaton writes that some of Spierto’s work on Capitol Hill has included policy discussions with stakeholders about the National Cybersecurity and Critical Infrastructure Protection Act.

“Over 90 percent of our nation’s critical infrastructure lies within the private sector. In order to protect Americans from the threat of cyberattacks, there must be a partnership between experts in the industry and the government,” Spierto told Government Technology.

Spierto worked for the subcommittee on cybersecurity, infrastructure protection and security technologies and is also a former legislative assistant for Rep. Patrick Meehan (R-Pa.).
