SAIC logoSAIC has pledged $150,000 annually for three years to became the first sponsor of the new USO Warrior and Family Center in Bethesda, Md.

SAIC’s donation is intended to benefit the wounded soldiers and military families under the care of the USO of Metropolitan Washington-Baltimore chapter, the company announced Wednesday.

For the remainder of 2014, SAIC also promised to support the activities and programs of the 16,000-sq. ft. center, which opened on April 1.

During the center’s ribbon cutting ceremony, SAIC Sector President Doug Wagoner said its standing as a center operations sponsor will help support the USO “centers at Bethesda and Ft. Belvoir remain strong and productive in order to support wounded, ill, and injured troops, as well as their families and caregivers.

Elaine Rogers, USO-Metro president and CEO, said that USO centers are funded solely by donations from local companies, foundations and the public.
