XeroxPaul Smith, vice president of Xerox’s research center in Canada, has been elected chairman of the Canadian Printable Electronics Industry Association, Graphic Arts Magazine reported Thursday.

He assumed the new role after CPEIA formed its first board of directors and promoted Peter Kallai, formerly executive director of the organization, to the role of president and CEO, Tony Curcio reports.

“Installing a board of directors is a critical step in the continued growth of this association,” said Kallai.

Kallai added that the board of directors would help to forge “a strong governance framework” for CPEIA and to oversee the development of its member services, maintain financial stability and build market partnerships for printable and organic electronic products.

The board also includes Michael Tischler, chief technology officer at Cooledge Lighting, and Robin Jeffries, president of Tangio Printed Electronics.

Thomas Ducellier, executive director of the printable electronics flagship program at the National Research Council of Canada, Andre Dion, general manager of the Printability and Graphic Communications Institute, and Mario Leclerc, chemistry professor at Universite Laval, were appointed to the board of advisers.
