EsriGeographic Information System technology will be the focus of the 2016 Esri National Security and Public Safety Summit to be held June 25 to 28 in San Diego.

“When a disaster strikes, knowing what resources are needed and where they are located is the key factor in saving lives and critical infrastructure,” Esri said Tuesday.

Esri says GIS was designed to support users to better locate and identify key resources during disasters, as well as help them prepare and respond regardless of the extent of the situation.

“The Esri National Security and Public Safety Summit is the world’s largest event dedicated to the use of geospatial technology by homeland security, national security, and public safety agencies,” said Christopher McIntosh, Esri Public Safety Industry Manager.

The two-day summit will feature discussions on GIS security and safety implementations, investment opportunities, and resources and operations enhancements, along with the following speakers:

  • Jim Featherstone, Los Angeles Homeland Security Advisory Council
  • Marc Tagliento, Federal Activities Section Chief, Federal Emergency Management Agency
  • Dan Bout, Assistant Director of Response, California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services
  • David Simpson, Public Safety & Homeland Security Bureau, Federal Communications Commission
  • Mike Cox, Assistant Chief, Henrico County Division of Fire

NSPSS is an annual summit hosted by Esri to introduce the company’s softwares, services, and partner agencies to local and international professionals and experts.
