Lockheed Provides $1M Grant to Fund Additive Manufacturing Lab at MSU Denver - top government contractors - best government contracting eventLockheed Martin has provided a $1 million grant to the Metropolitan State University of Denver to fund the construction of an additive manufacturing laboratory that will support the production of aerospace components.

The company said Thursday the Lockheed Martin Additive Manufacturing Laboratory will give MSU Denver students access to a three-dimensional printer.

Lockheed said the grant will be issued over a four-year period and will also cover the establishment of a director of the Advanced Manufacturing Sciences Institute.

“This grant is an investment in the futures of the students at MSU Denver and the aerospace community,” said Brian O’Connor, vice president of production operations at Lockheed’ space systems business unit.

Lockheed previously helped MSU Denver develop a curriculum that became the Advanced Manufacturing Sciences bachelor’s degree.
