Red Hat will hold its annual government symposium on Nov. 9 in Washington, D.C. to highlight the potential advantages of open source collaboration and emerging technology for federal agency missions.

The company said Tuesday the symposium, themed “Open first: building a foundation for choice and security,” will feature sessions, demos and panel discussions that will tackle development of modern applications, automation, hybrid clouds, security and containers.

The event will gather more than 650 government technology and industry representatives to discuss how government agencies can modernize capacities, streamline application deployment and implement DevOps systems.

“We are proud to once again host the 2017 Red Hat Government Symposium, and bring together the industry’s innovative minds to explore how we can accelerate innovation and meet next-generation challenges,” said Paul Smith, senior vice president and general manager of Red Hat’s U.S. public sector business.

Matt Lira, special assistant to the President for innovation policy and initiatives, and Todd Wieser, chief technology officer of the Air Force Special Operations Command, will deliver the keynote addresses.

The symposium will also feature speakers from the U.S. Army, Air Force, Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency, General Services Administration and other government agencies.
