Dong Ha, a retired U.S. Army colonel and 27-year military veteran, has been appointed CEO of Northrop Grumman‘s South Korean subsidiary.

Northrop said Thursday Ha will oversee the company’s operations in South Korea as well as support current programs and in-country expansion initiatives.

“Dong brings a deep understanding of South Korea’s global security challenges to this leadership position,” said David Perry, Northrop corporate vice president and chief global business development officer.

Before he joined the company, Ha served as chief of the Joint U.S. Military Affairs Group-Korea from 2009 to 2014 and managed foreign military sales and defense security cooperation activities between the two countries.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial management technology from Middle Tennessee State University and a master’s degree in national security affairs from the Naval Postgraduate School with a focus on Asian studies.

The Army veteran also completed military education at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and the Senior Defense Institute for Security Assistance Management Course.

He was the second U.S. military officer to join the Korea National Defense University’s Senior Service College fellowship program.
