Andy Jassy, CEO of Amazon Web Services, has said the company plans to make a “very competitive” offer for the Defense Department’s single-award cloud procurement contract, CRN reported Wednesday.

DoD issued the final draft solicitation for the Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure Cloud acquisition program in April with plans to release the final request for proposals in May for the multibillion-dollar contract.

“We will bid on the JEDI contract when it comes out and it will be a very competitive bid. … “[The government] has been very clear from the get-go that they will pick the platform and the provider that they think gives them the best chance to do what they need to do over the next couple of years,” Jassy said Wednesday during a CNBC interview.

Jassy noted that AWS cloud platform works to support at least 3,000 government agencies, including some U.S. intelligence agencies.
