CenturyLink Gains DOJ Nod to Sell Level 3's Arizona Network Assets to FirstDigital Telecom - top government contractors - best government contracting eventThe Justice Department has approved CenturyLink‘s proposal to sell certain Level 3 Communications assets in Tucson, Ariz., to FirstDigital Telecom.

CenturyLink said Monday it will divest metro fiber network platforms as part of an agreement with DOJ related to the telecommunication firm’s approximately $34 billion acquisition of Level 3.

The proposed sale is subject to customary closing conditions that include approval from the Federal Communications Commission.

DOJ cleared the divestment of former Level 3 assets in Albuquerque, N.M., to Unite Private Networks and in Boise, Idaho, to Syringa Networks.

CenturyLink noted it plans to offer customers an option to adopt FirstDigital offerings without delay or penalty and acquire networks and services from the latter company in an effort to deliver uninterrupted service in Tucson.
