SpaceX’s Falcon 9 Launches SES-12 Satellite Aboard Pre-Flown Rocket - top government contractors - best government contracting eventA communications satellite of Luxembourg-based SES took off Monday aboard SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.

SpaceX said Monday the rocket’s first stage used to launch the SES-12 satellite was initially deployed in September 2017 to support the Orbital Test Vehicle 5 mission.

The satellite is designed to expand SES’ capabilities to deliver very small aperture terminal and high-throughput data connectivity and direct-to-home broadcasting services in the Asia-Pacific and Middle East.

Airbus’ defense and space business produced SES-12 that has a mission duration of approximately 15 years and will replace the NSS-6 satellite at the geostationary transfer orbit.
