Jerry DeMuro, president and CEO of BAE Systems Inc., has said the Virginia-based contractor is trying to align its portfolio with the Defense Department‘s current priorities that are based on authorized budget, Defense One reported Thursday.

“What we tell our people and what we try and focus on are the facts and not the rhetoric,” he told audience during a Defense One-hosted event Wednesday.

DeMuro, a two-time Wash100 winner, pointed to the $300 billion federal spending increase the Senate approved in February as part of a two-year budget deal.

He added that BAE Systems Inc. — the U.S. subsidiary of U.K.-based BAE Systems PLC — participates in Capitol Hill meetings and works with various organizations as part of efforts “to understand where our market is headed and targeting our business towards where we think the market is headed.
