Teresa Carlson, vice president of worldwide public sector at Amazon Web Services and a four-time Wash100 awardee, has emphasized the company’s work with government clients to help them implement technology that can aid their missions, FedScoop reported Tuesday.

“They need to have the most innovative and cutting-edge tools they can,” Carlson was quoted as saying.

She noted that customers should “ethically” use facial recognition systems such as the AWS’ Rekognition platform that is designed to analyze images and videos.

The company demonstrated in August the potential use of its deep learning-based technology to defense missions.
