DHS, Florida Institute of Technology Demo 'Federated' Cyber Defense Approach - top government contractors - best government contracting event

The Department of Homeland Security‘s science and technology directorate has collaborated with the Florida Institute of Technology to demonstrate a system for multiple organizations to collectively thwart cyber threats.

The Federated Command and Control infrastructure is designed to help public and private sector entities identify and respond to malicious activity through various measures and automated response methods, DHS said Tuesday.

FC2 employs sensors and techniques intended to help a federation detect potential threat and attack indicators, exchange defense strategies and assess playbooks.

The demo involved the use of distributed hardware networks and virtual enclaves that were automatically integrated to assemble federations, according to the department.

The infrastructure was built upon S&T’s project to explore a “moving target defense” approach aimed at increasing the complexity and unpredictability of system properties for potential attackers.
