BAE to Pursue US Military All-Terrain Support Vehicle Program - top government contractors - best government contracting event

BAE Systems intends to compete for U.S. ArmyNational Guard program to build a joint all-terrain all-weather support vehicle that can function on the ground and across moderate bodies of water, National Defense Magazine reported Thursday.

The company looks to offer its BvS10 tracked carrier to replace the National Guard’s existing small unit support vehicle, which was deployed in the 1970s, the report said.

Jim Miller, director of combat vehicle business development at BAE, told the publication the company designed BvS10 in Northern Sweden and can operate in Arctic conditions.

The Army said in a request for information posted in June that it seeks a JAASV that can transport combat-loaded infantry-like squad element and general cargo, as well as conduct command and control operations and emergency medical evaluation.

The service wants a vehicle that will work in rugged environments and transportable by military aircraft such as CH-47 and UH-60, according to the report.
