Boeing‘s venture capital arm has invested in BridgeSat through a recent Series B funding round to help the latter company accelerate deployment of an optical system for space-based connectivity services.

Brian Schettler, managing director of Boeing’s HorizonX Ventures organization, said in a statement released Monday the company seeks to facilitate digital transition in satellite communications through the partnership.

Denver-based BridgeSat aims to build a global network of optical ground stations designed to help customers manage and secure transmission of data among satellites, spacecraft, unmanned aerial vehicles and high-altitude aircraft platforms.

The partnership allows BridgeSat to leverage Boeing’s resources and personnel in efforts to deploy optical ground station services worldwide.
