Raytheon-Made Air Control System Demonstrates Ship-Aircraft Connection - top government contractors - best government contracting eventThe U.S. Navy has used a Raytheon-made ship self defense system to digitally connect with a flying U.S. Marine Corps F-35B Joint Strike Fighter aircraft during a demonstration in Massachusetts.

The company said Wednesday its Link 16 Digital Air Control technology works to facilitate wireless joint operation between vessels and aircraft for boosted interoperability and situational awareness.

The system allows for transmission of targeting data, mission assignment and engagement status voiceless data, and aircraft status information between ships and aircraft.

Raytheon developed the DAC interface over nearly 18 months by augmenting the existing baseline of the SSDS.

Ships equipped with the current SSDS baseline will undergo modification to accommodate the Link 16 DAC technology.
