Lockheed Presents Ergonomics Technologies at 2019 Competition - top government contractors - best government contracting event

Four Lockheed Martin-sponsored teams have entered the final segment of a competition that seeks workplace safety technologies.

The company said Tuesday it is among more than 20 firms presenting at the 22nd Applied Ergonomics Conference's Ergo Cup Competition. The event aims to foster discussion in the areas of ergonomics, healthcare, safety, human resources and risk management.

Lockheed's teams entered technologies that apply virtual reality to ergonomics, compress the shock isolator of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense missile cannister, boost the torque of the F-35's vertical tails installation without added weight and provide a harness for Sikorsky's CH-53K helicopter.

The company used additive manufacturing to produce some of the entries.

“With more than 100K employees developing a broad portfolio of products and solutions for national defense, cyber security, logistics and energy, we must modernize our approach to ergonomics, safety and health,” says Anthony Banks, fellow and corporate ergonomist at Lockheed.

The conference will be held in New Orleans from March 25 to 28.
