Boeing has selected Cubic‘s mission solutions business to provide a wideband satellite communications modem system and a line-of-sight common data link system for the U.S. Navy’s unmanned aerial refueling program.

Cubic said Wednesday it will supply the equipment to support the MQ-25 unmanned tanker Boeing is building for the service branch.

Mike Twyman, president of Cubic Mission Solutions, said a wideband communication platform will aid in the safety and security of MQ-25 operations.

Boeing will produce four carrier-based aeriel refueler drones under a six-year, $805.3M engineering and manufacturing development contract awarded in August of last year.

The Navy expects the MQ-25 program to reach initial operational capability in 2024.

Cubic noted it supplies data link products to multiple Navy programs and the latest supply contract will support at least 30 jobs at the company.
