Red Hat’s Joel Jackson: Culture Change Needed to Advance Agency IT Modernization - top government contractors - best government contracting event

Joel Jackson, senior director of emerging product sales for Red Hat’s North America public sector group, said cloud, microservices and automation are among the modern software design’s building blocks that could reinforce federal information technology modernization efforts, Federal News Network reported Monday.

Jackson said on the network’s Innovation in Government that culture change is one of the challenges facing agencies when it comes to the implementation of microservices.

“You want to have a sprinting capability right off the bat. The mindset of how you are going to get features into a product from the get-go,” he said. “Then operationally, that also requires a lot of culture change. How do you maintain systems that are changing faster?”

Jackson also discussed how the concept of kubernetes or containerization could help agencies accelerate culture change.
